Wawa expanded into new markets by adding fuel services, putting them in competition with national giants like McDonald’s, 7-Eleven, and Shell – all of whom outspent Wawa by up to ten times. Despite the challenge, Wawa customers consistently wanted one thing: a quick, all-in-one stop to fuel both their cars and bodies. TRG’s “Gottahava Wawa” campaign tapped into that need, leading to double-digit growth in food service. For every $1 spent on advertising, Wawa saw more than $3 in returns.
